Hilda Moraa is an ambassador of African entrepreneurship. Her entrepreneurial passion and drive is ignited every day due to the failures and successes she faces in her daily work. In iHub Research, Hilda is currently a research fellow where she assists and advises on existing entrepreneurship and innovation related studies. Her experience in market Research, management consulting, operations research in a fast-paced exposure environment has been invaluable in designing and management of research projects.
In the past, Hilda has worked for a global FMCGs beverage company (Cocacola), Research firms such as iHub Research Information Technology and ERP companies e.g. Techbizz.
In addition to her more than 5 years research, system implementations and entrepreneurship skills, Hilda has relevant experience in business development and approaches to developing technologies. She exercises this in Weza Tele Ltld, an IT solution provider company that focuses on developing mobile solutions and platforms to solve emerging problems in the micro distribution sector. Hilda is a co-founder of Weza Tele Ltd.
Hilda is passionate about entrepreneurship and sharing entrepreneurial knowledge through her experiences to foster peer-to-peer learning and be a change agent by creating an impact in the world, starting with her own country. She is interested in mobile technology, micro distribution, m-commerce, Enterprise and platform solutions, User experience, Intellectual Property, ICT Hubs, governance and listening to other African entrepreneurs stories.
Ms. Hilda graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Business Information Technology from Strathmore University and is currently undertaking her masters in Innovation & Entrepreneurship by Research at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. My ongoing masters thesis is focussed on “Developing an ICT Hub model for the rural tech community in Kenya” with the following key research objectives:
- Understand the in depth needs of the rural tech entrepreneurs
- Evaluate potential opportunities to extend physical ICT Hubs services and support beyond the city to also help rural entrepreneurs grow their ventures
- Assess possible methods and strategies in rolling out an ICT Hub model in the rural areas/counties
- Assess potential application areas where rural tech entrepreneurs could create innovations based on the county needs in enhancing socio economic development.
- Provide any recommendations/lessons learnt tailored to the different stakeholders including the government of Kenya on developing an ICT Hub model in the rural areas
She is a CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) and CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certified and has worked as a network administrator at Strathmore University computer Labs.
